Holter monitoring

The ECG hotter monitoring records heart electrical activity throughout the day, so that the physician will later investigate the incidence of cardiac events. Holter, which is in fact the full term of the Holter Heartbeat Monitor, is used to detect heartbeat abnormalities. The monitor includes a device that is roughly the size of a large mobile phone, plugged into a number of wires attached to the patient's body. This device can record a patient's heartbeat for 24 to 48 hours. Thus, if during this period any abnormalities occur in the heartbeat of a person, they are recorded, and then the cardiologist can see them, or heed the symptoms of the patient, and understand the diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
